Hi! Thank you for having me.
I am Susanne Kaufmann, the founder of natural skincare brand SUSANNE KAUFMANN. The philosophy of my brand is to support the skin’s natural functions so it can work at its best, allowing its vitality to shine. Our approach is holistic: we look at the whole picture and see skincare as a means of prevention so we can care for the skin’s specific needs with our tailored products and treatments.
The history of our skincare brand began in Austria in the Bregenzerwald region, in the heart of the beautiful Austrian Alps valley. The power of nature forms the cornerstone of our beauty, health and wellbeing philosophy – we bring together the beneficial properties of Alpine flora with proven skin science to develop our products and treatments. Our powerful natural formulas are created using only the finest plants and botanicals, carefully chosen for their efficacy and skin affinity, as well as pioneering sustainable manufacturing methods.
You have just released refillable products, where does this eco-responsible awareness come from?
The Bregenzerwald region of Austria has been home to my family for over 5 generations and it’s where I launched the brand 17 years ago. Having grown up surrounded by such incredible natural beauty, environmental sustainability and protecting the earth’s precious resources have always been a priority focus for my lifestyle. Therefore, sustainability has been a central focus of the SUSANNE KAUFMANN brand since its creation.
We are committed to providing our customers with sustainable packaging solutions that leave a lighter footprint. We know our customers love our recyclable glass bottles, and so we are excited to now offer a refill solution that empowers them to reuse their existing bottles, reduce their carbon footprint and help us in the fight to protect our planet.
So thinking your brand in a global approach is an essential element for you?
From an early age, I learned to become environmentally conscious and to integrate the notion of sustainability into my daily life. The Bregenzerwald is our greatest asset: wherever I am in the region, I feel its energy, shaped by traditions combined with a unique agricultural culture based on sustainability, modern innovation, and solidarity.
Terms like “clean” and “natural” go much further than the high-quality, natural, and effective ingredients. It should also encompass an environmentally friendly production, sustainable packaging innovation, manufacturing processes and a deep respect for nature and people. This has always been our philosophy. It’s always been about the entire picture.
Therefore, it is very important that in everything we do, our philosophy guides our approach. We aim to always maintain the quality and efficacy of our products, target the different needs of the skin, produce sustainably, and stay true to our roots and our brand values wherever we are in the world.
You chose three products for this new Refillable Products project: the Cleansing Gel, the Shower/Shampoo and the Hand Soap. Would we have the privilege to know which products you want to develop next?
I strongly believe that sustainability is a never-ending journey and thus I plan to continue to explore opportunities to reduce the brand’s environmental impact throughout 2021 and beyond. We intend to expand the scope of the refill program with the addition of further Susanne Kaufmann’s products in the latter half of 2021.
