Me, Myself and I

As beautiful as love stories can be, I’ve decided, ladies and gentleman, to change the rules from now on. It’s slumped in my uncomfortable couch while listening to Caprisongs by FKA Twigs non-stop that I decreed that the 14th of February must be re-baptized. It’s time to get the dust out of this boring concept!

Obviously, chocolates, flowers and other love signs are not forbidden, I’m just asking that you get those stuff for yourself. And trust me, I’m writing this watching a pretty nice bouquet I got for myself. Besides the weird look from your florist, and a slight feeling of having an ego like Kanye West has, I can assure you that that feeling of taking care of yourself is absolutely worth it.

After all, let’s be honest, there is nothing more precious than ourselves. And in this tsunami of human relationships, we are trained and educated to love others, protect them and give more and more. But breaking news: getting some me time is key, and love and small attentions are not a big deal, it’s necessary.

Let’s enjoy this 14th of February to celebrate US. Us and nothing else. To remind ourselves that our time, our love and our attention are precious. Let’s also learn to be our biggest fans without feeling weird about it (and be cool on chocolates, bellyaches is never far away).
