Say goodbye to the winter blues with Laure Dary

With temperatures pushing us to stay at home and end-of-year fatigue, the winter blues are slowly creeping in, without asking for any permission. So to combat this ambient gloom, Standards Magazine has called on Laure Dary to come to the rescue! A dancer, yoga teacher and founder of Maison Of(f) Wellness, Laure suggests we get our bodies moving and breathe, to banish anxiety.

MORNING

Warm up your body and re-energise with three heart-opening postures that will help you open up, interact better with others and improve your posture.

  1. Puppy pose: start in table pose and move your hands towards the front of the mat, keeping your pelvis above your knees. Rest your forehead or chest on the floor and hold for 10 breaths.

2. The twist: starting from the table posture, place your right shoulder on the floor and move your left hand towards the front of the mat to twist your left shoulder towards the sky. Hold for 5 breaths before switching sides.

3. The half-bridge: lie on your back with your heels close to your buttocks and your feet parallel to each other. Lift your back off the mat, interlacing your hands behind your back to raise your chest towards the sky.

Hold for 10 breaths before releasing the posture.

I also like to use the Hercule Studio mats, which advocate “beauty for goodness” and incorporate the notion of aesthetics into the practice of sport, which have a beneficial effect on the brain and therefore on motivation.

EVENING

To calm your mind and soothe your body, think about breathing. Here are 2 essential techniques to add to your routine.

Square breathing: breathe in on 4 beats, keep your lungs full for 4 beats and breathe out on 4 beats to keep your lungs empty for 4 beats. Repeat the cycle 10 times.

Alternate breathing: block the right nostril with the thumb and breathe in through the left nostril, then block the left nostril with the ring finger, hold for 5 seconds and breathe out through the right nostril. start again by breathing in through the right nostril. Repeat the cycle 10 times.

During the day: remember to stay well hydrated by drinking water or herbal teas to eliminate accumulated toxins more easily, so you can regain your energy!
